We were the class of 1964.  We were special, unique, on the way to great futures--just ask us.  I don't remember Tommy as the valedictorian or president, but he was always the heart of our class.  He was involved in most of the pranks and fun we had.  And we had a lot of fun.  Whether he wanted the role or not, most of us looked to Tommy to lead or give approval.  I don't think he ever sought the role, but he accepted it gracefully. My earliest memories of Tommy involve asthma.  In the fifties, they did batteries of tests, which involved injections of allergens in an imaginary grid on one's back and were quite painful.  I went with Tommy for several of these sessions and I remember there were no tears, no complaints, and the readiness for some fun as soon as it was over.  That was Tommy.  "Let's do what has to be done and then have some fun." One winter, Mr. Clarence Williams, the Scoutmaster, determined that Tommy and I needed to swim a mile to get a merit badge and our next rank.  Mr. Neathamer had a contact at Bethel College in Hopkinsville and got us into an indoor pool one evening.  It might have been indoor, but it was not heated.  We jumped in and the temperature was surely hypothermia-inducing.  Being sane, we head straight for the ladder.  Mr. Neathamer called out, as only he could, "Swim, B-O-Y-S!". And swim we did.  Our teeth chattered all the way home, but we swam that mile and got our merit badges. My thoughts are with Connie, the love of his life.  I hope she will find comfort in memories of him and the presence of his siblings and their children.

Connie and family, I was shocked and saddened to hear of Tommy's passing. My prayers will be with you. When I think of Tommy, I see him in his Drum Major's uniform, leaning WAY back, with one knee up in the air. He always carried that big drum major's baton too. He was a wonderful drum major!! I also remember thinking how different he was from his Dad, but then I only knew Mr. Neatheamer as my science/health teacher. Tommy always had a big smile on his face. So sorry......... Suzy

Connie, I was so sorry to hear about Tommy.... and I did not know that your Mom was in Long Term...I don't think I will be able to come to the Funeral home... Connie, Becky and Richard, I am so sorry to hear about Tommy. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. I moved to Murfreesboro, Tn about 2 years ago to be closer to my daughter Kelly and her family. I keep my 2 year old granddaughter Madison Monday through Friday while Kelly works. I like living here and certainly love being Grandma but it does keep me from sharing times of sorrow with old friends. Rita
