William Slaton McDonald

GREENVILLE-William Slaton McDonald , age 41, of Greenville Ky, passed away Saturday November 10, 2018. He was born in Muhlenberg County on May 11, 1977. He was the assistant girls basketball coach and resource teacher at Grayson County High School. Will graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College and was a member of the mens 1999 Basketball Championship team. He enjoyed spending time with his daughters and loved to hunt and fish. Will was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents Willard and Avanell McDonald and Billy and Clydia Durall. He is survived by his daughters, Ashlynn Marie and Carli Slaton McDonald; parents, Wayne and Brenda McDonald of Greenville; sisters, Tammy (Tony) Hopper of Greenville and Salli (Josh) Ferry of Georgetown IN; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Bro Tommy Drury officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville. Visitation will be Tuesday after 5:00 PM at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Will McDonald Memorial fund for Ashlynn and Carli McDonald at First Kentucky Bank in Greenville. will mcdonald was an amazing person and is a huge part for the reason why i love basketball even though i wasnt the best player at the time he would always tell me that i will become a great player with hard practice r.i.p. coach mcdonald

A marvelous young man who always greeted me with a smile and a handshake. This best describes Wil. Not only was he a superb athlete, but we would not have won a NCAA National Title in 1999 without Wil McDonald. Saddened and stunned to learn of Will's death. It was my good fortune to be able to recruit him to Kentucky Wesleyan. He possessed a deep character that matched his basketball skills. He lead by example and his smile and positive demeanor made him a friend to all.
Heartfelt prayers are extended to his family, parents and friends.

My heart aches to hear of this news. Will was a wonderful guy and I am selfishly sad about his passing.

From competing against him in Chess Club in 8th grade (when we were the same height) to helping push his Ford Pinto to a parking spot at McDonald's and every day at school shouting "Hey Will!" to which he shouted back "Hey Chuck!" from our nearby lockers. Will was kind, full of fun and joy and just an all around good guy who could also play basketball and baseball and even soccer when he tried. As a friend I loved watching him play basketball and as a fan I loved cheering for him to excel.

My prayers are with you Mrs. Mac, Sally, Wayne and Tammy and his daughters in this time. Will left countless good memories and he will be with you, and us, always.

My goodness Wayne, Brenda and the entire family, words can't express my sorrow for your loss. Doris and I know your pain more than most. I remember Will (HOSS) and Chris being the two best pitchers in Muhlenberg county. If you and Brenda have any questions, call us @ 270-543-7696. Sending our prayers and hugs of comfort. Wayne, Brenda and sisters, I am deeply saddened by this tragic loss. Will was one of the best men that I ever had the pleasure of knowing. I am very thankful and grateful to have known him as a friend and a brother. I will never forget him and I am sure that the positive influential light that Will cast upon so many young lives will continue to grow in them the rest of their lives. You are all in my prayers.

Carol and I are deeply saddened to learn of Will's death. We were privileged that our tenure at Kentucky Wesleyan overlapped with his years there. He was an exemplary student and athlete. We were thrilled over and over with his basketball playing. But we were prouder of his presence on campus as a student. He gave much to KWC and represented the college with dignity and class. We send our sincere condolences to his family and pray for comfort in the days ahead.

I will always remember Will and my sons Bronson and Jason playing Little League Baseball. I enjoyed watching the boys grow up and play their hearts out down at Powderly. I loved every moment of it. I do believe I felt even then that those were some of the best times in our lives. And I feel so honored to have been there to see it. I wrap my love around Wayne and you Brenda and we will be praying for both of you. No mama and dad should have to go through this. I send you my love and will remember that handsome young man that always had a smile. He lives in our hearts always.
