CENTRAL CITY- William Joseph Sweatt, 77, of Central City died Friday, January 23, 2026 at his residence. He was born in Greenville, KY, on April 26, 1948 to Hugh “Cy” and Helen Sweatt. He attended Saint Joseph School and graduated from Central City High School. Joe worked for CSX and later worked and retried from Suburban Propane. After retirement he enjoyed watching ballgames and NASCAR on television. He was a veteran and loved talking to older veterans about their service to his country. He served as a dog-handler while in the Air Force in Vietnam. He loved animals. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Hugh W. Sweatt Sr. and Helen O’Bryan Sweatt; brother, Hugh Sweatt Jr.

Survivors include his sister-in-law, Patricia Sweatt; nephews, Terry (Sylvia) Sweatt, James Bradley Sweatt, Jon Phillip (Jessica) Sweatt.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 12:00 PM at Rose Hill Cemetery with Bro. Forest Deason officiating. Tucker Funeral Home in Central City is in charge of arrangements.
