I became friends with Willie when I was a student at Greenville High School (1983-1989). He was a quiet guy, but I got to know his funny side. I'm so glad I did. He picked on me and I picked on him. After I graduated, Willie would always stop and talk a minute when we ran across each other in town. He was proud I became a teacher and we both wished I could teach at South Middle. I finally did in 2006, but Willie had earned his retirement by then. He will always be a special person to me and I hope his family knows what he meant to so many people who were luck enough to know him. Heaven is a bit funnier now, I'm sure. Blessings!

There's really not any words I can say to express my sympathy to the family at this difficult time but I would like to share a scripture verse found in Psalm 34:18: The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.

From the moment I came into the family, William welcomed me with open arms and continued to do so. We laughed and picked on each other (which he was always good at) all the time. He had such a big heart and will be missed by everyone not only his family and his friends but by everyone whose life he touched which were very many. I will cherish all the wonderful memories that I have of him, always.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Ms. Dwyer & Family Willie was one of a kind. Sorry to read of his death. I always enjoyed him when he came by my restaurant, he always had something funny to tell me ,even if I was busy he made his way in the kitchen to see me. A great man of God and it showed. I will never forget the delivery I made to you and him, he loved lemon pie. I'm sure he was a blessing to several people. and will be missed without his presence. Sure glad I had the privilege of being around him, even tho he love to pick @ me. I'll be thinking of you in the sad days ahead, pray that God will wrap his loving arms around you and carry you thru. R.I.P. Willie my friend, I know you've already started telling all those funny tales. Debbie God Bless You Too. Janice

I first met William when I was hired to teach at Greenville High School. As a first year teacher I worried about everything, and Willie loved to add to the anxiety. He would rather tease than eat. South Middle hasn't been the same since he retired. Joe and I were so honored by Willie and Phyllis attending our wedding. Thanks for the memories. Our lives were richer because you were our friend.
