CENTRAL CITY – Wilbur Eugene Fortner, 83, of Central City, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 10:15AM at his home. Mr. Fortner was born May 23, 1927 in Grant County, KY. He was a retired coal miner and member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. He was a US Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his sons, James Fortner and George Forgy; parents Dudley Fortner and Ethel Stith; and brother Wendell Fortner. Survivors include his wife, Shirley McDonald Fortner; sons Larry Fortner of Henryville, IN and Terry Fortner of Greenville; daughters Teresa Cobb of Graham, Peggy Crockett of Madisonville, and Marilyn Forgy of New York; 18 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers Jerry Stith of Dry Ridge, KY, Gerald Stith of Dry Ridge, KY, Benton Stith of Florida, and Larry Stith of Grant County, KY; and a sister, Anny Lee Compton of Florida. Funeral services will be Monday, May 9, 2011 at 11:00AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Rev. Bill Bursztynski officiating, assisted by Rev. T.H. Davis and Rev. Terry Fortner.
