CENTRAL CITY-Reverend Wesley Roney “W.R.” Cook, 91, of Central City died July 9, 2011 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville, KY. He was born in McKenzie, Tennessee on June 6, 1920 and was a member of First Baptist Church in Central City, Kentucky. He graduated from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, and then began his ministry at Younger’s Creek Baptist in Elizabethtown in October, 1952. He then continued as a minister at Muldraugh Hill Baptist in Lebanon; Stithton Baptist in Radcliff; First Baptist in Central City; Hazel Creek Baptist in Belton; and South Carrollton Baptist in South Carrollton. He also served as interim pastor in several churches in Muhlenberg County. Preceded in death by his wives Louise O’Connor Cook and Corinne Williams Cook; parents, Wayne and Opal Cook; step grandchild, Cynthia Atherton; and sister, Ruth Yeatts. Survivors include his wife Dorothy; one daughter Martha Brown (Dr. M. Kay) of Elizabethtown; two sons, Jerry (Charlotte) Cook of Nashville,TN and Larry (Carla) Cook of Frankfort, Kentucky; Step Children, Sharon Shemwell, Carlton Williams, Gary Atherton, Janice Burden, and Marcia McEwen; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; five step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; one sister, Blanche McClure of Tullahoma, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 11:00 AM at TuckerFuneral Home in Central City, conducted by Rev. Bob Lowery. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central city.
