Central City- Walter Doll, Jr. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on March 9th, 2024. He was born on February 24th, 1945 to Augusta, Kubeneck and Walter Doll in Essen, Germany. He came to America in 1966 to marry the love of his life. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Central City. He was a lifelong coal miner. He enjoyed playing his accordion, gardening, German music, his yearly trips to the Octoberfest in Helen, Georgia and his barn talks. He was preceded in death by his father Walter Doll, Mother Augusta Kubeneck Adler, Step-father Ernst Adler, Sister Inge Piechowiak and son Erich Doll.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Romero Doll of Central City, his Daughter, Angela (Jeff) Lyle of Central City, Son, Paul Doll of Greenville, Son, Karl Doll of Central City, and Special Daughter Gala Freels of Henderson, Ky, Brother in laws Kirk Romero and Gene Romero, 12 Grand Children and 21 Great Grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
The family send special thanks to the nurses at Baptist Health CCU, Dr. Sultan, Jewish Hospital CCU and CCICU nurses. One of his greatest blessings was his own special team of nurses who cared for him, his beautiful granddaughters, Samantha, Bethaney and Rebecca.
Visitation will be Friday March 15th 2024 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Central City from 12PM-2PM. Funeral service will begin at 2PM at St Joseph’s Catholic Church on Friday March 15th, 2024.
