BROWDER – Tina Mae Kirtley, 101, of Browder died at 8:40 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville. She was born in Bevier on June 17, 1910, to the late Bryne B. and Maggie Dennis Barton. She was a member of Browder Missionary Baptist Church. She loved the church and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was postmaster of Browder for 45 years. Before working at the post office, she taught school at Browder for two years. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and play cards with her friends. She did volunteer work at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville and at the Duncan Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Kirtley; a daughter, Marilyn Kirtley McLemore; a sister, Margaret Barton Berens; and a brother, Joe Bryne Barton Survivors include a son, Bill Kirtley of Belton; a daughter, Jo Jean (Wilburn) Rose of Beechmont; six grandchildren, Karen (Steven) Grace, Mike (Vickie) Kirtley, Joann West, Ricky (Cecilia) Kirtley, Jeff (Cindy) Kirtley and Chris Kirtley; 12 great-grandchildren, Jason (Denise) Kirtley, Craig Kirtley, Angela (Matt) Mills, Heath Kirtley, Melissa (Joey) Langley, Stephanie Grace, Mallory Kirtley, Jon Kirtley, Ryan Kirtley, Ally Kirtley, Alex Kirtley and Leslie (Brian) Choate; seven great-great grandchildren, Kaytlin Kirtley, Emmi Kirtley, Addie Kirtley, Parker Mills, Briley Choate, Carson Choate and Logan Kirtley; several nieces and nephews; and a sister, Lucille Russell of Owensboro. Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Jessup will officiate. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Central City.
