Thorton Lavon Pate 11/28/2008 SACRAMENTO — Thorton Lavon Pate, 68, of 170 Walnut St., Sacramento, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at Regional Medical Center, Madisonville. He was born March 13, 1940, was a car salesman for Crabb’s Used Cars in Michigan and Indiana, and was a member of Island Baptist Church. He was a medic in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and served 11 1/2 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam T. Pate and Elmyra Brown Pate; a son, Jonathon Pate; and brother, Wendell Pate. Survivors include daughters, Sheila (Mike) Crabb of Hattiesburg, Miss., Sherry (Mike) West of Sacramento and Stephanie Garrett of Columbus, Ohio; a son, Wendell Pate of Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Beverly (Woodson) McRoy of Owensboro and Lyvette (Ron) Capps of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a brother, Carl Wayne (Sue) Pate of Island; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tucker Memorial Chapel, Sacramento, with the Rev. Doug Kirtley officiating, assisted by the Rev. John Butler. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Central City.
