AYER, MA – Thomas E. Brown, Vietnam War Veteran, 81, of Ayer, MA, passed away on Tuesday evening, July 25, 2023, at home from Alzheimer’s Disease.
He was born in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky on January 25, 1942, a son of the late Harry E. Brown and Rosey Cornell Brown. He graduated from Muhlenberg County High School and later Fitchburg State University.
Thomas served in the U.S. Army for 27 years (August 1963 – September 1990). He attended basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. During his military career, he was stationed in Fort Devens, Mass., Vietnam, Iraq, Iran, Paris, France, Thailand, Mexico, Korea, Panama, and Honduras. He served in the Vietnam War from April 1964 to June 1965. He was a dedicated member and past commander of the American Legion Post 139.
He leaves his wife, Gayle Huff Brown of Ayer, MA; his two sons, Tom and David Brown of Shirley, MA; his daughter-in-law, Sary Brown of Shirley, MA; his step-mother, Mary Moris of Kentucky; his granddaughter, Edna Brown of Shirley, MA; and grandsons Brian Callau of Hudson, MA and Angelo Callau of Davenport, FL.
Memorial services will be Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 12:00 noon at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Missy Dukes officiating. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday after 10:00AM at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Paws for Purple hearts at pawsforpurplehearts.org.
