History has occurred. We lost a country music icon and a hereditary torchbearer of thumb picking. Thom has inspired many across the world, including an entire generation of thumb pickers such as I. It was a privilege to see his adventures online and the happiness he brought to us all, even to someone who has never met him. RIP.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

He easily rivaled his Dad, the infamouse Merle Travis, on monster competance on the guitar. His joyful soul, and ripping guitar, will be sorely missed.

My Condolences to the family and I want to share a short story about Thom. It was just a few years ago, 2017 or so that I was in Nashville and had been learning to Travis pick. I saw Thom was appearing at a little BBQ place along the water down a dark winding driveway. We went to watch him play, and after sat with him for a few minutes on the deck out back, and talk a little about Travis picking and he said. "never let up with your thumb, and pick out a tune that sounds good to you. God Speed Thom.

MY PARENTS AND THOM'S PARENTS LIVED IN THE SAME TRAILER PARK IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. THOM WAS BORN IN FEBUARY 1948. I WAS BORN IN JUNE OF 1948.WE WERE BORN IN TNE SAME HOSPITAL AND THESAME DR. WHO DELIVERD US IN HOLLYWOOD'',CA. WE ALL STAYED FRIENDS ALONG TIME. ANYTIME THEY CAME THRU LAS VEGAS WE WOULD SEE THEM. ONE TIME MY MOTHER BAKED A CAKE FOR HIM IN THE SHAPE OF A GUITAR ON HIS 18TH BIRTHDAY. I THOUGHT OF THOM AS A BIG BROTHER. HIS BIRTH NAME WAS THOMAS, HE WAS CALLED TOM. HE LATER CHANGED THE SPELLING OF TOM TO THOM. I USED TO TELL I KNEW HIM WHEN HE DIDN'T HAVE AN "H" TO HIS NAME. I A LOT OF MEMORIES THOM. HE WOULD SIT THE LIVING ROOM FLOOR AND HIS SONGS. THERE AREVMANY THAT HE PLAYED LIKE MERLE. THE WORLD HAS LOST A GREAT TALENT. I LOST MY BIG BROTHER. I KNOW HE WILL BE IN HEAVEN PLAYING WITH MERLE FOR THE ANGELS.. WHEN HE LITTLE HE WAS CALLED TOM-TOM. REST IN PEACE I WILL MISS YOU. DEE DEE

Looking for your “Guitar In The Window” my Brother. We shared too many gigs to count and miles of stories. You thought me to focus on being a “guitar thinker” and made me a better player. I will always treasure your interpretations of my songs. You took them and made them your own. This is the greatest compliment a songwriter can receive. Sure gonna miss you my Brother.

Thank you Thom Bresh for spreading happiness and joy to millions of people during your journey on this earth with your talents and gifts. I send my condolences and prayers to his family. My heart has been saddened ever since we heard the news that Bresh has passed away. What an incredible life he lived. We booked Thom on several occasions at the theater my family owned and operated at Panama City Beach, Florida called the Ocean Opry Show. But Bresh was much more than an act we booked. He became a true friend that loved our family. RIP Breshman, you will never be forgotten. Job well done my friend.

I’ll always remember Thom two ways. On stage pickin up a storm and singing the quirky lyrics of the clever tunes he favored. The second- telling tales on the CAAS patio. One such tale:The irony of a young man 4F for hearing loss, who made a living as a musician using his ears- that man was Thom. We’ll miss your music, tales and video posts from the road. Anytime I see a jumbo Margarita, it’ll remind me of you. RIP

I met Thom when I played his TV show with Grandpa Jones back in the 70s. I knew he was very special and had a great talent. He had an entertainer‘s voice and an amazing sound and tone on the guitar that was no doubt a gift. Although he sounded a lot like his dad (and always honored him) he also had a style of his own. His stories were amazing and he loved to support young people who played music. He was a guiding light for many and may his light shine for many years to come. I was a honored to be his friend.
