Thadius Hawkins Published: Sunday, November 29, 2009 12:01 AM CST GREENVILLE — Thadius Hawkins, 77, of Greenville died at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at his home. He was born June 15, 1932, in Dalton, Ga. He was a laborer for TVA, a member of Duvall’s Chapel General Baptist Church and an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thadius and Mertie Hawkins; grandchildren Jill Gahkel and Scott Hawkins; and three brothers, James Hawkins, Edmund Hawkins and Johnny Hawkins. Survivors include his wife, Linda Wright Hawkins of Greenville; a son, Jeffrey (Jo-Ann) Hawkins of Cincinnati; a daughter, Beth Dukes of Greenville; a grandson, Justin (Kimberly) Hawkins; granddaughters Jessica Hawkins, Tiffany (Brad) Ahlanius and Michle Davis; and a niece, Karen (Buddy) Handley. Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at Duvall’s Chapel General Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ken Miller officiating. Burial will be in Nebo Cemetery in Greenville. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Hawkins will lie in state at the church from 9 to 11 a.m. Donations may be made to Duvall’s Chapel Mercy Ministry.
