GREENVILLE – Terry Wayne Shanks, 69, of Greenville, died Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 5:45AM at Greenville Nursing and Rehab.  Mr. Shanks was born February 12, 1954, in Muhlenberg County.  He was preceded in death by his fathers, Jackie Shanks and Tommy Hendrix; and mother, Edna Hendrix.

He is survived by his children, Michael Shanks, Tommy (Amanda) Shanks, and John Shanks; brothers, Gary (Cindy) Shanks, Ronnie (Darlene) Hendrix, and Larry (Debra) Hendrix; and sister, Cathy (Jeff) Piper.

Graveside funeral services will be Friday, April 21, 2023, at 11:00AM at Memorials Gardens, with Bro. Leroy Rearden officiating.  Burial to follow.  Tucker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.

As I have had more time to think about Terry, if it wasn't for Terry and family, I would have never met my wife of 36 years. One time Terry, Gary, and I went to a UK football game in Lexington. It was night, and Gary stuck his head out the car window. His glasses blew off onto the parkway. There was no traffic, so I backed down the parkway and there the glasses were...as though they were looking up at us.

I am so sorry for your loss. Terry and I used to be close friends when I lived in Kentucky. We used to pick Walter Creager up and take him home. Terry would get him wound up over the Yankees. We went to a UK game and he got to talk to Reggie Warford at the dorm. Tremendous personal loss for me. I turn 70 tomorrow, so, I will always remember his passing because of that. May our Lord give you peace as you go forward.
