Herman Danny & Debbie "Sally" left a message on August 19, 2011:
IN MEMORY OF A LOVING BROTHER We love and miss you deeply as it's very plain to see. You've been a blessing to everyone, but especially to Dan and me. There's a special kind of love that's meant for you alone. There's a place within our hearts that only a brother can own. "paraphrased" EDC We have been blessed to have a loving caring brother like you. We cherish all the memories of you that will live forever in our hearts. We treasure all the special times and how deeply you touched our hearts and life. We cry for our loss of you but rejoice in knowing you are in Heaven. Through your memories our hearts smile. As you wanted here on earth we will continue while you're in Heaven..."Smile, open our eyes to the beauty you always saw, love and go on with life." We love you Steve..."Red".
Debbie "Sally" Knight-Sheeks left a message on August 18, 2011:
Nicknames..."Red", "Hollywood" "Red" was started by Dan, our oldest brother, because unlike the rest of us he had bright red hair. Also we had an uncle on the Knight side of the family who had red hair and was nicknamed "Red". Friends picked up on "Red" during his teenage years. The nickname "Red", as Bro. Bobby mentioned at the graveside service, I see still lives on through the fond memories of family and friends whose life's he touched. "Hollywood" was given to him by his friends in IN. Steve's version, "cause I look good like a movie star". I'm sure his dear friends in IN, whom he cherished deeply, would tell me a different version of that story. :-) When he came back home to KY he told us about his friends in IN calling him "Hollywood". Shortly after that he attached himself to a pair of my husbands sunglasses, which David eagerly gave to him. He rarely went anywhere without his cap and sunglasses. We got tickled and started calling him "Hollywood". Everyday he would say, "Sally, you up for a trip?" I'd say sure and he would grab his cap, if he didn't already have it on, and put on those sunglasses. I always had something to do before we left so he would set and wait for me to get ready with his cap and sunglasses on. When he put those sunglasses on I couldn't help but laugh. I got in the habit of saying, "let's go Hollywood" or "are you ready Hollywood" and he'd either say, "yeaph" or shake his head yes and wink at me and off we'd go. He always got a kick out of me calling him Hollywood. We'd be going through Wal-Mart and I'd look up and there he'd be with that cap on and those sunglasses. I'd just smile and say come on Hollywood. I wanted to say thank you to all his dear friends in IN whom he loved and cherished for giving him that nickname. He really got a kick out of it. He would set back and smile and say, "those are some good old boys". I may never meet you, know your names but I can match a funny story to you.
Deloris Raines (formerly Knight) left a message on August 13, 2011:
Steve spent a lot of time in Owensboro with Carlos (Dickie) and I when he was a boy. He was always such a sweet young fellow and was always willing to help Carlos with any project - we always enjoyed having him with us. I haven't seen any of the family in many years, but wanted you to know that I am thinking of you during this time and extend my sympathy to all the family. Very Sincerely, Deloris Raines
