She was always “Sissy” to me. She was one of the few people to call me “Kal.” She was one of the sweetest, most tender hearted, and sensitive souls you’d ever meet. She loved animals and wouldn’t hurt a fly. She had the most epic collection of stuffed animals and Disney movies you’d ever seen. I seem to remember trying to convince her to give me one of her carebears, but it didn’t work. But when she heard I was pregnant, she chose a well-loved fox from her collection for my son Everett to have. She also liked action shows and movies. We watched Power Rangers together, and I remember she liked Dr. Quinn and Xena, Warrior Princess. Sometimes my dad would take her to see the action movies that nobody else was really into. She always played with me as a child - coloring and crafts. I had a special stocking that she would fix up for me every Christmas. It was one of those you color yourself, but I’m pretty sure she did the coloring. She’d always joke after I went through my stocking that she’d take it back to start filling up again for next year. I don’t remember when the stocking stopped, but I’m sure it went on a little longer than it probably should have. Every time you went to my grandparents’ house, she’d be the first to offer you something to drink - tea or ginger ale. At Christmas she’d ask you what you wanted to be for your drink charm - a snowman? Santa? She lived her days as a dutiful daughter and a beloved sister and aunt. Forever a child at heart and nurturer in spirit. I love you, Sissy. Thank you for making my childhood special.
