Shirley Joyce Rice CENTRAL CITY — Shirley Joyce Rice, 71, of Central City died Sunday, March 15, 2009, at her home in Muhlenberg County. She was born June 3, 1937, in Muhlenberg County. She was a homemaker and member of New Harmony Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Rice; and a brother, Texal Mabrey. Survivors include a son, Steven (Judy) Rice of Bremen; a daughter, Vicki (Terry) Whitaker of Sacramento; two grandchildren, Jarrod Rice and Melanie Conrad; stepgrandchild Natalie Markwell; a brother, Tracy Mabrey of Central City; and two sisters, Gwen Joines of Central City and Brenda Kirk of Powderly. Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with the Rev. T.H. Davis officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Visitation is after 4:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
