CENTRAL CITY – Shirley Arlene Fortner, 83, of Central City, died Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at 6:10AM at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Mrs. Fortner was born September 23, 1934, in Muhlenberg County. She was a homemaker and also was a cook at several restaurants. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. She loved her church and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed working in the craft department at Wal-Mart, and her hobbies included quilting and crocheting. She loved her husband of 46 years, Wilbur Fortner; her family; and her dog, Lucky. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Eugene Fortner; son George Forgy; step-son James Fortner; father Raymond McDonald; mother Ruth Ward McDonald; sisters, Ruby Byers and Shelia McDonald; and brother Charles McDonald. She is survived by her children, Peggy (John) Crockett of Madisonville, Marilyn Forgy of Johnson City, NY, and Terry (Ann) Fortner of Greenville; step-son Larry (Terry) Fortner of Henryville, IN; step-daughter Teresa (Tommy) Cobb of Depoy; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother Johnny McDonald; and sister Elaine Montgomery. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 11:00AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Rev. Bill Bursztynski officiating. Burial in Mt.
