You left a precious gift with us on the Earth of knowing that you went to heaven. I love you baby girl.

I remember one time at church when my cousin Hunter brought her; this was the first time me ever meeting her and she goes Hi im Sadie and had the biggest smile ever on her face. I miss her so much. Rest In Peace Sadie. You will be missed lovely. It has been a little over 3 months but it seems like it was just yesterday I heard some of the worst words EVER. I love you Sadie.

I spent the whole day yesterday in prayer and thoughts for the family. I shed many tears as well. I did not know Sadie personally and have been away from there a long time, but I went to school with Brian, Stephanie and Sammy. I feel like I knew her from the wonderful things I have read and heard about her. She is a beautiful shining star in a community that is broken. As much as she loves all of you and you her, given a chance she would not want to come back here . She has won the race and received the ultimate prize. My son, Caleb was in a car accident 2 years ago Jan. 22nd. Miracously God chose to spare his life that night. Sadie's story has renewed my appreciation for this. Thank you Sadie. Your life is touching many other lives everywhere. Our children are a gift from God, they belong to him. He loans them to us for a while and I know you will always cherish that beautiful gift he gave you and your family for 17 years- Sadie Beth Smith. You will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers in the days ahead. He will give you the strength you need to carry on.

Our family didn't know your precious daughter but her story made a huge impact on our community and churches. It brought so many friends, family and complete strangers together. We are so sorry for your loss she was so young and beautiful words just aren't enough during this time. My heart is truely aching for this family. However; I can find some comfort in knowing that this beautiful girl is now marching in the army of the Lord. She is now an angel in heaven. I remember seeing Sadie put so much effort and enthusiasm into cheering her high school team on during games. She was a joy to watch. The most important thing I noticed was after a game there was a teenage crying over a broken relationship. Sadie told her to "shake it off. The only guy to give your heart to is God anyways!!!" To the smith family-my family doesn't know yours at all. But the passing of your loved one has broke our hearts. I have been keeping up with everything through Fb. I have a son a year older than Sadie and I can't imagine the pain the family is feeling right now. My 11 year old daughter has also been touched by this story. She didn't know Sadie either but when she heard about her,she put sadies picture on her profile picture. She was truly concerned about her and said lots of prayers for her. I met Sadie when she was about 5 years old, her aunt Tina and I were friends. I hadnt seen Sadie in a long time, but our family never stopped praying when we heard the news. April and Brian are such sweet, good people. Sadie is such a beautiful young lady. Still praying for you all

Brian, April, Hannah and family members, I know there are no words that anyone can offer to ease your grief and pain, but I want you to know that I and my family, as well as the Hazel Creek Baptist Church family, are lifting your names to God in prayer continually. There are many mysteries in this life that we may never know the answer to on this side of Heaven. It seems this is among those. I know you are faithful, devout christian people and you will find the strength you need to go on and the comfort you so desperately search for, in the loving arms of Jesus Christ. I hope through the huge outpouring of love and support you have from the community, God will reassure you that Sadie did more in her 17 years to reach people than some do in 70 or 80 years. She was a wonderful Christian example to all those lives she touched. I believe many young people, and some older people, will move to know or develop a closer relationship with this Jesus Sadie loved so much. God's scripture brings a comfort and peace we cannot find anywhere else. I have searched many passages the last few weeks...among them, one of the most consoling and reaffirming has to be the book of Philippians. Paul offers up so many life-altering, reaffirming scriptures in his letter to the church in Philippi. I pray you find what you need through his precious words to a people he loved very much. I love you all and am praying continually for you as you face the days ahead.

I too, along with many others who have signed the memory book; does not know Sadie. After reading so many wonderful things about this 17 year beautiful girl, I been giving a glimps of her life. What a wonderful life she lived. I read how she had a smile for everyone, I wish there were some kind of magical words I could say to bring some comfort. There is not any words that could comfort Sadie family, friends, community at this time. I prayed for her after her accident. I prayed to the Lord, that he had his hands in this and he of course did! My little girl Kohl she will be 4 on March 12th she prayed every night with us here is her prayer for u " Jesus please make Sadie Better" also after we found out that u had went to be with Jesus her question was " why did Sadie die, I prayed for her" u just don't know how to answer that other than Jesus must have needed you more than we did, but now you can look over us and keep us safe! She also saying she wants to bring flowers to ur grave site and send u a balloon from her party so be waiting on it! It will be Zebra print! From what I've seen people post and say and just by how many lives you've touched, I know you was a great person! This was so shocking that you died at only 17, with your whole life ahead of you, but it was God's will and God's will be done. My prayer is this poem I wrote will bring God's comfort to all who knew and loved her. MESSAGE FROM SADIE - I know your hearts are heavy and you miss having me there but I'm with God in heaven where no one has a care. I just shook hands with Moses, I met Mary and Martha too. Now I am enjoying a body that's brand new. It really was amazing when I walked through the gate, I saw the beauty of this place and I could hardly wait; to come into the presence of the Father and the Son. hearing him say to me the priceless words "WELL DONE!". Jesus took me by the hand and said "I'm so glad you're here! You'll join the other angels and lead them in a cheer!" You should see my mansion it's a sight to see. Jesus had it custom built especially for me. I'm having a great time up here no one is sad and blue. We're looking forward to the day when Christ will usher you into this very special place where God is on His throne, and we will have the honor to worship Him alone.

In the short time I was able to spend with Sadie as her English teacher, she made a profound impact on me; there was a rare brightness was emanating from her face at all times, she possessed a coolness of temperament, warmth of personality and eagerness to learn--she was indeed an ideal student, knowing that education is not merely meant to gain one knowledge or skill, but grows one in soul. Since the time of the accident, the exceptional character and magnitude of spirit behind this young woman was made evident in the depth of friendship that she shared with many of her peers, some of whom are my students. I have sat here wondering what to do, to say, to feel, as they mourn; but a quiet grief begins to stir in me instead of words or actions, letting me know that I must instead simply be, that there is nothing I can do to erase tragedy, nothing I can say to bring comfort. In one of these moments of silent grief--on the morning I heard of her accident--I was looking again through a collection of poetry compiled by a number of students this semester on the topic of Nature or Fate. I skipped all the others until I came to Sadie's. I had remembered its strikingly beautiful lines, having touched me when I initially read it nearly a week ago. On the day she had written it, Sadie had been looking through our windows at a snowy Thursday evening, the only snowfall we have seen thus far. The flakes were thick, slow, gracefully falling. Some students' imaginations led them away from the weather, as evident in their writings, towards the cruelty of Fate or the corruption of human nature. Others were thrilled with the possibility of a snowday for Friday, as their poems reflected. Sadie uniquely let the external Nature soak into her imagination, and there she contemplated the origin of this snow's fall. The weather became a medium or a message, something both inspiring and wondrous to her. On this day of composition I promised the students that I would let them know who won the poetry contest, after, of course, reading them all aloud. On the Thursday after the accident I decided to read them to the class, particularly her class. It was the end of the day, the bell had rung, and we noticed her seat, its emptiness, and the echo of our emptiness. We would quickly turn our eyes from it again and again; the unfilled desk was the very manifestation of injustice, a reminder of how unnatural and cruel tragedy is, evidence of the Fate that so many of my students had ridiculed and condemned in their poetry. All day I had held composure, letting the daily routines occupy my mind. Then I came to the last of the poems, her's, and began to cry, and I could not stop. I was unable to look at the students--her friends--but tried to proceed with a strength that I did not have. My lips were quivering, my eyes watering, my hands trembling, the paper crackling in my hands. When the last words feebly left my mouth, I lifted my eyes and saw the students grieving with me. Together we had suffered most truly, and with one another: in her very words we felt the harshness and beauty of life. Needless to say, Sadie's poem won the contest, and most deservedly. Not only is the content startlingly brilliant, but the style is smooth and delicate, the words wisely chosen and wedded together masterfully. I hope you see why she has won as you observe the careful language she used to describe this transcendent experience with the Sender of a message of snow, beauty and blessed communion. Only one truly at peace could take something as seemingly trivial as snowfall and transform it, with a sacred imagination, into prayer. I envision her quoting this poem at present, in joy unimaginable, before the One she had written it to. By confession of friends and profession of her own, the deepest of all joys and desire for her was to have God and to be had by Him. Though our hearing of her words may bring us to an inexplicably powerful, yet mournful, appreciation for Sadie, could we imagine that perhaps our collective grief and thankfulness is but a blade of grass in the infinite fields of affection and love that she now sees in His eyes? Does she now, with the fulfillment of her deepest dream before her eyes, grieve us more than we grieve her? I don't know. But I believe that for those of us who read her poem now, these very words bear a divine whisper, a foretaste for what we can only hope to obtain by faith, which is now for her sight, smell, touch, taste, hearing--Where all is golden laughter, Where sadness is undone, Where the sun shall never set again, Where Death has lost its power and Life is, for the first time, truly lived. It was in the Spirit of this Place that Sadie wrote her truly wonderful poem that I hope will be read for many ages, and though we feel the bite of this "winter cold," may we--like Sadie--never tire of seeing His "beauty unfold." "Snow falls, so graceful, so light Covers the ground, hides this dreadful mess, Almost makes things new again. With your cleansing power you must be, Sent from Jesus, the Christ child, so lowly. Although we may despise the winter cold, We never get tired of seeing Your beauty unfold"

Sadie school today just was not the same, everyone is at loss with words we can not believe your really gone. Our hearts are in pain but we know that you are in heaven, watching over your family and friends! God received an amazing angel the day you left. You are loved and missed so much!!
