Ronald Jay Higgs

September 21, 1941 - January 21, 2022

CENTRAL CITY – Ronald Jay Higgs, 80, of Central City, passed away Friday, January 21, 2022, at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville.  Mr. Higgs was born September 21, 1941, in Muhlenberg County.  He was a retired U.S. Navy veteran.  He enlisted straight out of high school in 1959 and served for 30 years.  He served in the Cuban Invasion and Vietnam War.  He was also an avid Corvette enthusiast.  He was preceded in death by his parents, James D. and Gwendolyn Higgs; brothers, Larry Joe Higgs and Charles “Satch” Higgs; and sister, Patsy Burns.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Higgs; sons, Greg Higgs of Owensboro and Brian (Kristi) Robinson of Central City; grandchildren, Dalton Higgs of Sarasota, FL, Jordan (Amber) Robinson of Greenville, and Kaitlyn Robinson of Central City; sisters, Mimi Harris of Central City, Jamie Mehne of Evansville, IN, Shelia Huffman of Booneville, IN, and Candace Allega of Evansville, IN; sisters-in-law, Julia Higgs of Utica and Helen Brand of Central City; brothers-in-law, Forest Deason and Jerry (Lavonda) Deason, both of Central City; and many nieces and nephews.
