GREENVILLE – Robert “Wayne” Rager, 79, of Greenville, died Monday, April 22, 2024 at 9:50PM at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. Mr. Rager was born June 15, 1944, in Muhlenberg County. He retired from Stewart’s IGA after working 21 years as an Assistant Manager, and he was a vital member of Duvall’s Chapel General Baptist Church. Dorothy and Wayne took care of Duvall’s Chapel Church for 18 years, and Wayne never met a stranger. He had the spirit of Christmas. He devoted his life to his Lord and Savior, and he loved eating meals with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Rager; mother, Dorene Sheets; and sister, Carol Giger.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Vincent Rager; children, Linda (Mike) Fox, Vicki (David) Arvin, Joe (Jamey) Griffin, Dr. Michael Wayne (David Johnson) Rager, Chelsea Arvin, and Shannon Rager (John) Miller; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Tommy (Phyllis) Rager, and Jack Rager.
Funeral services are Friday, April 26, 2024 at 11AM at Duvall’s Chapel General Baptist Church in Greenville with Bro. Gary Embry officiating. Burial in Nebo Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8PM and after 8AM at the church. The family would like to give a special thanks to Muhlenberg Community Hospital, Well Care Home Health, Owensboro Home Health, Dr. John Daclosta and Dr. Kapadia.
