CENTRAL CITY – Robert Thomas Caskey Sr.,75, of Central City, died Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 5:37p.m., at University of Louisville Hospital. Mr. Caskey was born on September 3, 1949 to Uncle Sam, and on October 3, 1949 to F.R Caskey and Jennie Ann Gray. Born at home in Central City, the doctor filled out his birth certificate at the end of October. Mr. Caskey found out when he was drafted a month early. Anyone who knew him knew he celebrated both birthdays.
When he was drafted during the Vietnam war at the age of 18, he was stationed in Fort Knox during his two year stay with the Army. During his stay in the Army he married his childhood sweetheart on April 12, 1969. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and helped with their food pantry.
After the Army, Mr. Caskey worked with ICG railroad for 18 years. During that time traveling to different states, he and his family settled back in Central City. Leaving the railroad he worked for Legion Trucking in Madisonville as a dispatcher. Kellworth Trucking in Oklahoma was his next stop in life.
Moving back to Kentucky, Mr. Caskey started working at Sonic Drive In. While working there he touched every heart that came through. He worked there for 17 years, during this time he shined bright in Muhlenberg County as a pillar of the community, sponsoring T-ball, softball teams, go-cart racing, and anything he could for advertising. He was known for feeding the fire departments during long fires, never asking for anything in return.
Mr. Caskey worked for Allied Security before working with Muhlenberg County Job Corps, where he worked the last four years. Mr. Caskey has been known by everyone as the sweetest, kindest and most hardworking man. He loved to watch anime with his grandkids. He will truly be missed by all who known and loved him.
Mr. Caskey is preceded in death by both parents; a daughter, Barbara Caskey Walsh; a granddaughter, Trinity Blaise Eaves; and a brother, Ricky Lee Caskey.
He is survived by his childhood love and wife of 55 years, Karen Creager Caskey; a son, Robert (SunMi) Caskey Jr.; a daughter, Daryle Jo “DJ” (Aaron) Eaves; grandchildren, Andrew Williams, Brock Williams, Dylan Caskey, Rhiannon Caskey, Robert T. Caskey III, Asia Caskey, Courtney Caskey, Matthew (Samantha) Gaston, Haven Eaves, Lani Eaves, and Treasure Eaves; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia O’Neal, Patricia Stobaugh, Donna Jernigan, Farrlyn Arnold; brothers, George Caskey, Danny Caskey, and Faro Caskey.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 29, at 12P.M. at Tucker Funeral Home, with Father John Ighacho officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday starting at 10A.M. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
