Richard Emerson Dozer Published: Sunday, July 26, 2009 12:00 AM CDT CENTRAL CITY — Richard Emerson Dozer, 87, of 105 Valley View Lane, Central City, died at 10:10 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2009. He was born Aug. 22, 1921, in Zanesville, Ohio. He was a pit foreman for Peabody Coal Co. (Sinclair Mine), a member of Mount Zion Presbyterian Church and a World War II veteran. He was an elder in his church and a member of VFW, Literacy Council, Coal Dusters Square Dance Club for 25 years, Habitat for Humanity and Retired Senior Volunteers. He was a Cub Scout master and Scout leader. He received a Silver Beaver for scouting service and was a Kentucky Colonel. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Lorraine Grace Dozer of Central City; five sons, Jerry Richard (Terri) Dozer of Greenville, Terry Robert (Mary) Dozer of Central City, Charles Frederick (Ann) Dozer of Henderson, David Allen (Karla) Dozer of Elizabethtown and Ronald Glenn (Tammy) Dozer of Central City; a daughter, Kathryn Dianne (Carl) Robison of Dixon; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with the Rev. Jim Brown officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Central City.
