VERSAILLES – Retha Jewell Griggs, 75, of Versailles, died Sunday, September 27, 2026, at 3:51AM at University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.  Mrs. Griggs was born February 8, 1951, in Greenville.  She was a homemaker and attended Richardson Chapel Church in Muhlenberg County and New Hope Church in Versailles.

Retha Griggs was a bright ray of light whose beautiful smile was known and loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She brought warmth, kindness, and joy into the lives of those around her, leaving behind a legacy of love that will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Retha was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and faithfully lived out her love for Him. She was active in her church and cherished the fellowship, faith, and friendships that were such an important part of her life.

She found great joy in the simple beauty of God’s creation, especially through gardening. She loved to be outside, tending to her flowers and watching them bloom. Spring and summer were her favorite seasons, and there was a special happiness in seeing her among her flowers.

Above all, she loved her family. Her family was her greatest joy and her greatest source of pride. She treasured every moment spent with those she loved and took great pride in the lives and accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Retha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronnie Griggs, and her eldest daughter, Tammy Griggs.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her youngest daughter, Christa Richardson, and son-in-law, Jay Richardson; her grandson, Taylor Harris; her granddaughters, Tara Harris, Abigail Richardson, and Cameron Richardson; her great-grandsons, Chance Harris and Jaxon Anderson; her sister, Hilda McIntosh; and many other family members and friends who were blessed to know and love her.

Her family finds comfort in knowing that she loved the Lord and is now resting in His eternal presence.

Memorial services will be Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 12:00 noon at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Bro. Christopher Harper officiating.  Burial in Old Bethel Cemetery.  Visitation will begin at 10:00AM on Saturday at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
