BEECHMONT – R. B. “Pete” McElwain, 91 of Beechmont, died Saturday, November 20 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. He was born in Muhlenberg County on May 27, 1919 to the late Bessie & Seymore McElwain. He was a self employed painter and paper hanger for many years, was a member of the Belton Beechmont Baptist Church. He loved his God, his family, gospel music and playing the guitar. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Paula Bratcher, his second wife, Cletus Thompson Turner, brothers, Herman, Arlo & Barney McElwain, a sister, Icy Wester, and a grandson, Michael Tines. Survivers include two sons, Hutch(Sharon)McElwain of Bowling Green and Alva Lynn McElwain of Beechmont, two daughters, Patsy(Jerry)Hammonds of Franklin and Doris Tines of Bowling Green, two sisters, Sarah Wester of Beechmont and Golda Harris of Eddyville, twelve grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren and many friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 23 at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Tom Carroll and Rev. Bobby Allen Jr, with burial in the Union Ridge Cemetery in Belton, Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Tuesday after 8:00 AM at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy can be made in the form of donations to the Belton Beechmont Baptist Church, c/o Sarah Wester, 3571 U.S. Highway 431 South, Beechmont, Ky 42323.
