Pearl Marie Vincent Short 12/27/2008 Pearl Marie Vincent Short, 88, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at her residence in the Bard Hill community. Born in Muhlenberg County, Feb. 4, 1920, she was the youngest child of Charlie P. and Lillian Downs Vincent, and was raised by her father and stepmother, Lula Quisenberry Vincent. Pearl was a member of Vernal Grove Baptist Church and had been a Sunday school teacher for different ages throughout the years, a youth leader and very active in the church and associational Women’s Missionary Union in Muhlenberg County. She was a charter member of the Yeargins Homemakers Club having been a member for more than 50 years. She had been an active member of the Republican Party. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, James Lloyd Short in 2002; a grandson, the Rev. Tony McCall in 2006; three brothers, Charles, James and T.J. Vincent; six sisters, Lillian Mary Vincent, Flora Agnes Vincent, Florence Turner, Verdie Newton, Janie Peveler and Stella Miller. She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn (C.C.) McCall of Franklin, Tenn., and Linda (Tom) Ford of Greenville; three sons, Delferd (Anna) Short of Greenville, Stephen (Dotty) Short of Madisonville and Charles (Sandy) Short of Sturgis; 15 grandchildren, Donna McCall, Lisa (Jody) Pearre, Chris (Mandy) McCall, Ken (Kris) Ford, Alan Ford, Bobby (Paula) Short, Jonathan (Emily) Short, Maritta (Jonathan) Shain, David (Teresa) Short, Jeania (Jerry) Duncan, Heath (Lori) Lovell, Wes Lovell, Stephanie Short, Chuck Short (Tracie) and Joy Browning; 29 great-grandchildren; and three caretakers, Ruth Nelson, Diann Graham and Sandy Hall. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tucker Funeral Home, Central City, with the Rev. Jerry Eades officiating. Burial will follow at Vernal Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Tucker Funeral Home.
