CENTRAL CITY – Dr. Paul Edward Todd, 97, of Central City, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018. Dr. Todd was born in Ashland, KY on June 28, 1921, to Arthur H. and Myrtle Bolt Todd. He graduated from Ashland Senior High School in 1939, and served in the US Military shortly thereafter. Dr. Todd attended Illinois College of Optometry and graduated in 1948. He came to Central City in 1948, where he practiced optometry until this retirement in 1982. During practice, Dr. Todd served as the President of the Kentucky Optometric Association. Dr. Todd was a dedicated member of Central City First United Methodist Church. He served on several boards of the church, and taught a senior Sunday school class for many years. Paul was active in the Volunteers in Mission program of the United Methodist Church, serving in Liberia (West Africa), Mexico, and on multiple missions in St. Vincent, West Indies – supplying thousands of used eyeglasses to people in need. Dr. Todd was passionate about golf. He was a leader in forming the course at the Central City County Club in 1965, and served as the club president during its first two years of operation. He was a past president of the Central City Lions Club and a 70 year member. Paul was preceded in death by parents Arthur H. and Myrtle Bolt Todd, brother John Todd, daughter-in-law Carolyn Todd, and son-in-law Bill Walker. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joanna Clark Todd, son David Alan Todd, daughter Mary Beth Walker, granddaughter Leanna Michele (Daniel) Norwood, and two great-grandsons, Todd Thomas Norwood and Beau Dawson Norwood. A celebration of life will be Friday, September 14, 2018, at 1:00PM at the First United Methodist Church in Central City with Rev. Tom Eblen officiating, assisted by Rev. Mark Jones. Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, September 13 from 5-8PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City and at the church on Friday after 11:00AM.
