Miss Opal loved the Lord and spending time with her family. She loved to quilt, sew and do all kinds of crafts with her daughter. She met and made many friends while displaying and selling their crafts. She also loved camping and fishing and being outdoors. She enjoyed gospel music and even attended some Bill Gaither concerts. She was an avid UK basketball fan and even attended a UK-UT game on her 72nd birthday. She loved to visit the Great Smoky Mountains and marveled at God’s wondrous works and creations. She was a marvelous cook and baker who truly enjoyed cooking for her family, church functions and bake sales. Her biscuits, light bread rolls, pies and cakes would bring people from everywhere to eat. No one ever left her home hungry. She was a member of Towers Chapel United Methodist Church. She truly loved everyone, especially children. In her younger years, she was a UMYF counselor along with her husband, “Junior,” and her sister Shelby and husband Marvin. “Miss Opal,” as she was called by many, was dearly loved and will be truly missed by all.
