CENTRAL CITY – Nola Mae Pierce, 80, of Central City, died Thursday, November 12, 2020, at Continue Care Hospital in Madisonville. Mrs. Pierce was born September 1, 1940, in Muhlenberg County. She was a CNA at Poplar Grove Nursing Home. She was a member of Richardson Chapel Church for many years, then became a member of Christ of Calvary Church. What made her smile the most was her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved to attend church, and she also enjoyed music and was a member of a family gospel group. She loved to fish! She was preceded in death by her grandsons, Joey Simmons and Jeremy Simmons; sister Christina Stanley; brothers Tom Whanger and Albert Whanger; parents Harry and Katie Whanger; and husband Glendon Pierce. She is survived by her children, Henry (Mary Ann) Simmons of Central City; Theresa (Mike) DeArmond of Beech Creek, and Judy (Tony) Oglesby of Powderly; grandchildren Adam DeArmond, Josh Beatty, Hank Simmons, Dustin Beatty, Kaden Simmons, and Bethany Devine; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; ten nephews and nieces; brothers John Whanger and James Whanger; and sisters Jane Campfield, Rose Quisenberry, Barbara Stewart, and Wyona Hines. Funeral services will be Sunday, November 15, 2020, at 2:00PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Bro. Donald Pendley officiating, assisted by Bro. Mike DeArmond. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5-8PM at the funeral home. Family and friends who are attending the visitation or funeral service are asked to wear a face mask for the safety of all those in attendance, in accordance with the governor’s mandate.
