CENTRAL CITY- Naredia Joan “Rita Jo” Sheffield Mayhugh, age 85 of Central City, Kentucky passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 1:45 PM at Muhlenberg Community Hospital. Rita was born on August 25, 1932 in Muhlenberg County. She was the daughter of Clarence and Lola Whalen Sheffield. She was a member of Martwick Baptist Church and graduated from Drakesboro High School. Rita worked at General Electric in Owensboro and helped her husband, Emanuel, on their farms. Rita loved flowers. She enjoyed being with her family, playing the piano, singing, and spending Saturday nights watching Lawrence Welk with her husband of 66 years. Rita was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Edna Earle Brandon, Mattie Francis Brand, Marion Emma Williams, Wilma June Gross, and grandson Jarrod Blake Vincent. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Lewis Emanuel Mayhugh of Central City; two daughters, Donna (Steve) Vincent of Graham and Gail (Jim) Johnson of Bremen. Six grandchildren, Tara (Jason) Whitmer of Graham, Clay (Amber) Vincent of Graham, Ashley (Greg) Poore of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Leah (Shane) Kirkpatrick of Central City, Jarrod (Ashleigh) Johnson of Greenvile, Jenna (Chris) McGee of Central City. Great-grandchildren include Cole Vincent of Graham, Bristal Vincent of Graham, Rossi Whitmer of Graham, Landry Johnson of Greenville, Morgan (Ashley) Poore of Greenville, Aaron (Kirsten) Poore of Bowling Green, Madison Poore of Beechmont. Two great-great grandchildren, Ellie Thompson of Greenville and Aubrie Thompson of Greenville. Rita has one brother, Jimmy Dale Sheffield of Louisville. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Bro. Matt McIntosh officiating.
