GREENVILLE- Murel Jewel Cobb age 81 of Greenville died Friday June 28, 2019 at the Heartford House in Owensboro Ky. Mr Cobb was born in Muhlenberg County on October 13, 1937. Mr. Cobb retired as a tool repairman for Alcan Aluminum, He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he was Bishop of the Greenville Ward for 7 years and a Temple worker in the Louisville, Ky temple for 15 years. He was a Kentucky Colonel and he served in the United States Marine Corp and was an Atomic Veteran, Mr Cobb was a avid sports fan of golf, baseball and basketball. He coached youth baseball in Greenville and Muhlenberg County for numerous years. He loved his family and church and they where the center of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Alice Steele Cobb. Mr. Cobb is survived by his wife of 58 years Brenda Winn Cobb of Greenville, daughter Marnie(Les)Broady, sons, Chuck Cobb of Greenville and Jim(Kristy)Cobb of Greenville, grandchildren Sarah Cobb, Misty(Doug)Dillinger, Ty Cobb Broady, and Will Broady, great-grandsons, Ethan and Elijah Dillinger, step-grandson Chris Sparks, step-great-granddaughter Linzey Sparks, and a sister Pat Strader of Aurora CO.. Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Bishop Donnie Abney Jr. Officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Greenville. So sorry for your loss. My family always looked forward to seeing Brother Cobb when he visited the Madisonville Ward. He was such a sweet man and always had the best stories. God bless your family.

Murel was a friend to everyone and will be missed. He was a fun guy who could both give and take a practical joke. Heaven will be the better with him there. Our sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

We are so sorry to hear of Brother Cobb's passing. We are so thankful that Wilburn Robinson called us to let us know. We became good friends while serving with Murel in the Louisville, KY Temple. He was a good man and he was lots of fun. We would stop at Taco Bell for lunch when leaving Louisville with him, Brother Robinson, and Brother Steele. We would enjoy our lunch together and then we would head our separate ways home. We were so sad when Murel had to stop serving in the Temple due to his health. Everyone missed him and we missed him most of all. Our love to his family and his wonderful wife Brenda, who we had the privilege to get to know. God bless all of you during this time of sorrow.

i am a us army atomic veteran being at the atomic test site in 1957 in the Nevada desert, i wonder if Muriel was there at the same time? We were in the marine corps reserve in 1955. I remember Muriel as being a very nice person. Rest in peace Muriel.
