July 31, 1954 - August 19, 2017

BREMEN – Monta Irvin Baize, age 63 of Bremen passed away after a lengthy illness Saturday, Aug 19 at his home surrounded by family. Born July 31, 1954 in Muhlenberg County, he was the son of the late Jimmie D. and Geneva Baize of Moorman. He was preceded in death by his brother Jerry Geary and sister Doris Payton Monta was a kind-hearted man who never met a stranger. He made friends easily and was always sharing a joke and laughter. Before his illness, he worked as a truck driver for B & K Wood Products. Monta was married to his wife Judy Nelson Baize for 45 years. They enjoyed traveling, dining, cookouts and attending Christian Fellowship Church in Bremen. Other than his wife, Judy, Monta is survived by a son, Derrick Wayne Baize of Michigan City, Indiana; a brother Gene Geary of Central City; a sister Rita D. (Monte) Smith of Bremen; grandchildren Tracee Baize of Chesterton, Indiana, Zachary, Sarah and Alex Baize all of Michigan City; great-grand daughter Honesti Ann Nichole Baize of Michigan City; several brothers-and sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 1 PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Bro. Kelly Turner will officiate. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery in Moorman. Visitations will be Tuesday, August 22, 2017 after 5 PM at the funeral home. Online condolences can be made at www.tuckerfuneralhome.com.
