CENTRAL CITY – Monie Ray Harris, Jr., 75, of Central City, died Saturday, June 2, 2018, at 10:02PM at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mr. Harris was born March 27, 1943, in Muhlenberg County. He was retired from the coal mines since 2002 after 32 years of service. He was awarded the Carnegie Medal in 1961, and then served in the U.S. Army until 1966. He was a long time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Kiper Harris; daughters Monica (Troy) Hanor of Dixon and Debbie (Thomas A.) Lanier of Clarksville, TN; grandchildren Derrick Harris, Andrea (Brandon) Stone, and Travis (Nicole) Lanier; great-grandchildren Aiden “Lil Buddy” Harris, Nicholas and Ethan Stone, Kaleigh Stone, and Raven Lanier; and brothers Allen (Jo Moore) Harris of Greenville and Jim (Mary Kay) Hrdina of Illinois. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 6, 2018, from 5-9PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be private.
