CENTRAL CITY – Michael Wayne Moore, 74, of Central City, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 8:50PM at his residence. Mr. Moore was born April 26, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois. He was a retired coal miner, working for Ken American for 25 years. Mr. Moore was a Christian and a member of South Carrollton Missionary Baptist Church, where he enjoyed attending church services. He was a musician, playing flattop and steel guitar in gospel groups. He owned a recording studio for a while, and enjoyed singing and writing songs. He was the author of Murders of Muhlenberg County Volumes 1 and 2, Hanging of Harrison Alexander, Murders of McLean County, Little House on Brownie Road, and The Sound of Distant Thunder. He loved spending time with his family and going out to eat. He also enjoyed carpentry.

Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his son, Shawn Moore; grandson, Michael Moore; granddaughters, Kayleigh Moore and Whitley Dunn; mother, Thelma Moore; father, Dewey Moore; and sisters, Karen Lovell, Ann Moore Chapman, and Brenda Sharp.

He is survived by his wife, Christy Griffith Moore; daughters, Shana Skinner, Nikki (Dave) Saulsberry, and Brandy Hargis; son, Jimmy (Talisha) Moore; daughter-in-law, Kim Moore; brother, Ricky (Cindy) Moore; many nieces and nephews; and many grandchildren he loved dearly.

Funeral services will be Friday, June 19, 2026, at 11:00AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Bro. Roger Heltsley officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.
