GREENVILLE – Maryann McDonald, 82, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital. She was born September 7, 1936, in Muhlenberg County to Madie Maxwell Buchanan and Floyd Elmo Buchanan. She was a retired postmaster and served the post offices of South Carrollton, Depoy, Drakesboro, Beechmont, and Central City. She was also employed as a deputy in the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s office and deputy clerk in the Muhlenberg County Clerk’s office. She started her working career with the Times-Argus in Central City where she was a reporter and photographer. She continued her newspaper career in Ft. Smith, Arkansas while her husband, Kenneth, served in the United States Army. She was a member of Drakesboro First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmo and Madie Buchanan; brothers Darral Buchanan, Ronnie Buchanan, and E.J. Buchanan; and sisters Wanda Rives and Dolores Burden. Maryann is survived by her husband of 61 years, Kenneth McDonald of Greenville; daughter Vicki McDonald Strader (James Kirk Strader) of Greenville; daughter Lori Ann McDonald of Greenville; granddaughter Erin Strader Garland (Trent Garland) of Murray; grandson Colin Maxwell McDonald of Greenville; great-grandchildren Madi Grace Garland and Strader James Garland, both of Murray; and sister Faye Buchanan Price (Weldon) of Auburn. Maryann’s greatest legacy is her love for her family and her family’s love for her. Graveside funeral services will be Friday, December 28, 2018, at 2:00PM at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City, with Bro. Tom Stovall officiating. I will say our family reunion this summer in Evansville she did just that with Gary and I.I will cherish that visit and seeing her look so beautiful forever.

I just learned about your sweet mama's passing. Anything in this world I can do to help is my gift to you, sweet Sister. Until then, you, Colin, and your family have all of my heart and prayers.

I first got to know MaryAnn in high school. We played soft ball together for Drakesboro. I might had we had a pretty good team. Also after my husband and I moved back to Ky. After we retired in Indianapolis , we attended the same church at Drakesboro. I love that woman dearly.

I am so sorry for your loss-my heart, my prayers, my love goes out and to you and Collin during this difficult time.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Remember Maryann very well. Ken & I played softball together & growing up I went to Drakesboro Baptist. I know that there is nothing that can take away your pain & sorrows. Just recall all your fond & loving memories. In my prayers, GOD BLESS.

I like to remember you by the enjoyment we had when we went to the National Quartet Convention in Louisville. Now you are with many of those wonderful singers as you all sing around the throne of God.
