I remember she took the entire fifth grade class to Sacramento roller rink for a skate party, my first such life affirming event. I always considered her to be my favorite teacher. Most of the boys in our class had a crush on her, and would race up the hill from school each morning to volunteer to carry her books to class. When I was at a loss as to a book for a book report, she suggested a biography about Lou Gehrig. That book had a hard, orange cover. I like to think that Ms Nall instilled a sense of adventure and desire to read. May she rest in peace. She lives on in our collective memories.
