I just discovered that Martha had passed. I wanted to leave a few words to her children about the Martha I knew from the time I met her at Egyptian Music Camp in DuQuoin, IL, in 1953 or 1954. She was a couple of years older than I was, but we started corresponding as '"pen pals". and wrote regularly to each other for 10 or more years. I lived in St. Louis, MO. I visited her once on our way to Florida and I knew she had married. She was a very good friend and a loving support in my young life, and I appreciated her very much. I am sure she is stiill a loving guidance in your lives today.

Dear John and Jennifer, My family lived next door to your grandparents and your mom and I were childhood friends/buddies. My maternal grandmother, who lived with us, dearly loved Martha like she was her own granddaughter. We had many a backyard weenie roast (in Pat and Lois's yard) and made tents by throwing blankets over the clothes line and "camping". Your grandmother Lois and my mother, Isabel Loving, were really good friends and we used to imitate them. I have some wonderful photos of your mom from that time (1949-1954) if you would like to have copies email me and I will get them to you. Everytime I came back to Central City I always went to visit the corner where we all lived and the memory is still very vivid. I was in Central City attending the class reunion of 1961 back in September 2011 and was hoping to see Martha....I learned from Sherrie Stirsman that she had died. I was heartbroken and wanted to try to get in touch with either or both of you. Jennifer, I understand you know Sherrie's sister, Mary Beth??? You probably won't see this since it has been almost a year now....I just wanted you to know that your mom meant a lot to me and everytime I look at the photos of her....nothing but great memories are there. You have a wonderful heritage. Blessings, Nica Loving

Jennifer & John, Your mother loved you both deeply, & was so proud of you both. She spoke often of you to me. She had a sparkle about her that lit a room when she walked in. Without doubt she was one of the best people, best friends I have ever known. I hope I can put to good use the things I learned from her. My heart aches that she is gone, yet I am joyful because I know that her spirit is already in heaven. She was magnetic. I loved her dearly.

Whenever I think of Martha, I remember what a beautiful job she did on the Christmas music and decorations at Church. I especially liked the Magnolia leaves with the hurricane lights. She was special. She's singing now with your dad and he's thinking of a prank to pull on her.....They always made me smile!
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
