CENTRAL CITY – Marjorie Genevieve Hust Harper, 85, of Central City, went to be with the Lord Monday, March 4, 2024 at 3:07PM at The Heartford Hospice House in Owensboro, Kentucky. Mrs. Harper was born January 5, 1939 in Morganfield, Kentucky. She was a licensed minister and retired pastor’s wife of 46 years in Missouri and Kentucky. She served as pastor’s wife of The Church of God of Prophecy in Central City for 26 years. She enjoyed loving, caring for, and being surrounded by her family. She was a faithful Christian from early childhood and loved serving her church. She was a friend, mentor, confidante and adopted mom to many. Her kids and grandkids lovingly referred to her as a social butterfly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bishop Arnold F. Harper; parents, Elvie and Agnes Hust; brothers, George Henry Griffin, Elvie, Jessie, Franklin, Milton, Charles, Gillie, Virgil and Wayne Hust; and sister, Christine Day.
Survivors include son, Dr. Tim (Karen) Harper of Charlestown, IN; daughters, Sarah (John) Roarke of Morgantown, KY and Sharmin (Doug) Lush of Cecilia, KY; grandchildren, Derek (Jennifer) Roarke, Cameron (Cheyenne) Roarke, Brittany (Steven) Salisbury, Chandler Harper, Stetson (Miranda) Harper, Austin (Chrissy) Atterberry, and Landon (Anna) Atterberry; great-grandchildren, Harper & Hadley Roarke, Brantley & Hudson Roarke, Grace Harper, and Myles Atterberry; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 11:00AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Dr. Tim Harper officiating, assisted by Pastor Sam Smith and Pastor Stetson Harper. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 4:00-8:00PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Mrs. Harper will lie in state at Tucker Funeral Home on Saturday at 10:00AM until the time of funeral. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
