POWDERLY – Margaret “Midge” Helen Edwards died March 2, 2019, at 6:50 AM, at Maple Nursing and Rehabiltation Center in Greenville. Margaret was born on December 3, 1923, in Muhlenberg County to James R. Holmes and Grace Pittman Holmes. On November 20, 1940 she married the love of her life Charles “Chalk” Edwards and they spent 69 wonderful years together working, raising a family and enjoying their many grandchildren and great-grandchildren prior to his death in January of 2010. Midge was a devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She spent many years supporting her community in various roles while working at Muhlenberg Community Hospital for 25+ years as a Nurses Aide (CNA) before retiring in 1989. She was a member of Powderly United Methodist Church for more than 80 years and served in many roles that supported her strong Christian faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother James Holmes; sisters Mary Beatrice Vincent and Betty Jo Barnett; a granddaughter, Vanessa Edwards Wells and a grandson, Eddie Barnett in 2005. Survivors include her five children: Tom Edwards of Chicago, IL; Ann (Billie) Faith of Huntsville, AL; Charlie Edwards of Powderly; Carole (Harold) Mullins of Hazard, KY and Mike Edwards of Powderly; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services are Sunday March 3, 2019 1:00 PM, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with the Rev. Danny Greene officiating.Visitation will be Sunday after 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Powderly alongside her beloved husband of 69 years.
