GREENVILLE – Lynelle Sparks Watkins Cornett, 91, of Greenville, died Friday, June 15, 2012 at 3:20AM at Muhlenberg Community Hospital. Mrs. Cornett was born May 1, 1921 in Earles, Kentucky. During her career, she was secretary at Credit Bureau and later she was secretary at Peoples Bank in Madisonville, reporting to the E.V.P. She loved antiques and was an antique dealer in Madisonville. Mrs. Cornett was a graduate of Graham High School and was a member of Second Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her second husband, Custer “Rocky” Cornett, Jr.; first husband Bill Watkins; parents Charlie Martin and Bessie Sparks; sisters Kendrick Stovall and Carolyn Smith; and brothers Leonard Sparks, Norwood Sparks, and Julian M. Sparks. Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Marlin and Vicki Sparks of Danville, Greg (Ann) Sparks of Greenville, Greeba London of Greenville, Shirley Rowe of Greenville, Lou Austin of Madisonville, Ann (Sam) Clark of Greenville, Marcia (Robert) Reynolds of Greenville, Pam (Jim) Achuff of Mt. Juliet, TN, Debbie (Johnny) Wilson of Smith Grove, David Mercer of Nashville, Larry (Elaine) Sparks of Greenville, David (Karen) Sparks of Lexington, Anthony Sparks of Madisonville, Susie (Mike) Wheatley of Madisonville, Valerie (John) Persons of Richmond, VA, and Sherri Haines of Scranton, PA; and several other great-nieces and nephews. A special thanks goes to Charlene Johnson, her caregiver. Funeral services will be Monday, June 18, 2012 at 11:00AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Rev. Bob Thurman officiating, assisted by Dr. Ray England. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday after 5:00PM at the funeral home.
