Lorene Fortney 11/5/2008 GREENVILLE — Lorene Fortney, 90, of 3265 Kentucky 181 South, Greenville, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, at her home. She was born Oct. 27, 1918, in Muhlenberg County and was a charter member of Leigh’s Chapel General Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Georgie Pearson; her second husband, Elbert Lee Fortney; a sister, Fannie Mitchell; and two brothers, Melvin Saddler and Benjamin Saddler. Survivors include a foster daughter, Corene Richardson of Horse Cave; a stepson, Gerrald Fortney of Gallatin, Tenn.; a stepdaughter, Sara Russell Fishers of Indiana; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Saddler of Greenville; and three sisters, Pauline Jenkins of Evansville, Dorothy June Whitaker of Newburgh, Ind., and Betty Jo Sapp of Greenville. Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Leigh’s Chapel General Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roger Wright officiating, assisted by the Rev. John Gaylon. Burial will be in Old Jackson Cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at Tucker Funeral Home. Mrs. Fortney will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
