SOUTH CARROLLTON- Lila Mae “Memaw” Downs, 97, of South Carrollton died Saturday, December 9, 2023 at her residence. Mrs. Downs was born in Muhlenberg County on January 27, 1926. She was a charter member of South Carrollton Missionary Baptist Church.  She was a former inspector for Cowdens. Mrs. Downs was a lover of Kentucky basketball and loved to travel with the Nifty Fifty Travelers and going on cruises with her sister. She spent a lot of her time cleaning and maintaining her yard. No one could keep a yard up like she did. Mrs. Downs was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Franklin A. Downs; parents, Paul and Gertie Wilcox.

She was known by her family as Memaw and loved deeply by anyone who ever met her. She is survived by her daughter, Sandy (Rocky) Kidd; son, David (Terisa) Downs; grandchildren, Lori (Brian) Doss, Chris (Krystal) Stone, Kelly (Dennis) Vincent, Steven (Alysia) Phillips; great grandchildren, Nick Doss, Nathan (Allyson) Doss, Cadence Stone, Karson Stone, Caroline Stone, Alivia Lindsey, Ady Estes, Addison Phillips, Kord Phillips; great-great grandchildren, Cohen Doss, Easton Ruark; several nieces and nephews, and brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 11:00 AM at South Carrollton Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Roger Heltsley officiating and Bro. Greg Brooks assisting. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2023 from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM at the church. Online condolences can be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
