Leroy Rager CENTRAL CITY — Leroy Rager, 82, of Central City died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital, Skilled Nursing Facility, in Greenville. Leroy was born June 19, 1927, in Cleaton to Sidney and Neasie Rager. He retired as one of the top salesmen of the nation at age 50, after 25 years with the Jewel Co. and started a second career with his wife, Sue, in arts and crafts. He was a military veteran of the Army, serving in Japan after World War II. Leroy was a member of First Christian Church in Central City, having served as an elder and Sunday school superintendent for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Delbert Horn. Survivors include his wife of 62 loving years, Sue Yewell Rager; a daughter, Janice and husband David James of Central City; a grandson, whom he thought the world of, Donny James and wife Jennifer; two sisters, Beluah Horn of Greenville and Charlotte “Scottie” and husband Don Nemecek of Sidell, La.; a brother, Billy and wife Joan of Ocean Springs, Miss.; a special granddog, Rocky; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank a dear family friend, Dr. Mike Jarvis, Dr. Satish Shah, Dr. Ed Prunty and their staff and Muhlenberg Community Hospital ICU and Skilled Nursing Facility for their dedication and commitment to quality health care and service. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today. Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with a close family friend, Larry Mercer of Owensboro, officiating.
