BROXTON, GA – LaWanza “Lou” June Beliles Swift, age 83, of Broxton, Georgia, formerly of Ocala, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, in Pensacola, Florida.
Lou was born on July 23, 1942, in Central City, Kentucky, to the late Herman Presley Beliles and Louise Grider Beliles. She was a devoted mother, sister, aunt—affectionately known as “Hunny Hunny”—and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Keith Beliles, and her nephew, Romey Beliles.
Lou is survived by her two daughters, Vette Lott and Inette Gardner (Tommy); her grandson, Hayden Stern; her brother, Herman Beliles (Joy); her sister-in-law, Rhonda Beliles; and several nephews.
Her faith was central to her life and her relationship with Christ. Over the years, she was an active member of Calvert Baptist Church in Central City, Kentucky; First Presbyterian Church in Ocala, Florida; and First Baptist Church in Douglas and Broxton, Georgia.
Lou found great joy in serving as an educator in elementary schools and working in childcare settings, where she cared for and loved many children throughout her life.
She had a love for country music, square dancing, clogging, playing cards, and spending time with her beloved dogs, most recently her companion Lucy.
Lou was also a proud member of the Muhlenberg High School Class of 1961, where she played the clarinet in the marching band. She maintained lifelong friendships with classmates Carolyn Day Beck and Donna Adams and looked forward to attending class reunions over the years.
She will be fondly remembered for her love of life and her sparkling blue eyes, which reflected her warmth and joy.
