CENTRAL CITY – Lana Jane Givens, 84, of Central City, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born in Beechland, Kentucky, on August 31, 1941. Born to John Bowden Milam and Hollis Gardner Milam, Jane was raised with values centered on family, faith, community, and hard work, which she carried throughout her life.
Jane graduated from Lewisburg High School. On April 9, 1960, Jane married Dr. Gary D. Givens in Catlettsburg, Kentucky, marking the beginning of a beautiful partnership that spanned over 66 years. Together, they built a warm and loving family, raising three devoted children: Eric Givens (Rachael) and Chad Givens (Trinity) of Louisville, Kentucky, and Nicole Ginsburg (Brad) of Lexington, Kentucky. Jane was a proud and nurturing mother, whose unconditional love extended to her cherished grandchildren: Lauren Colvin (Brandon), Brandon Givens, Alex Ginsburg, and Kip Ginsburg. Jane was a beloved sister to Eva Joy Kauble, Jimmy Milam, Denny Milam, and Mary Ann Wilson.
Jane was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Central City for many years prior to her illness. She was also a passionate supporter of the University of Kentucky Wildcats, actively involved with the K-fund, and loved being a part of the Big Blue Nation.
Her family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers: Melanie Vincent, Linda Randolph, Martha “Kandi” Hawkins, Tina Bailey, and Tonya Evertt, who provided her with love and care during her lengthy illness.
For those who wish to honor Jane’s life, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Association, an organization close to the family’s heart.
Funeral services will be Monday, August 24, 2026, at 11:00AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Dr. Chase Thompson officiating. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery in Central City.
