SACRAMENTO – Kenneth L. “Ken” Powers, 83, of Sacramento, died Monday, December 3, 2018, at 1:08AM at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Mr. Powers was born September 13, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan. He was a member of United Christian Fellowship Church. He was also a U.S. Army veteran, with the rank of Staff Sergeant, and was an Honor Flight member serving in the Korean War. He held many jobs during his life, including truck driver, policeman, deputy sheriff, insurance salesman, car salesman, pastor, Mayor of Sacramento, and coal miner. He was also a Mason and enjoyed Civil War re-enactments. He also loved spending time with family and his dog, Biscuit. He was preceded in death by his father, Byron Powers; mother Hallie Rich; sisters Delores (Ernest) Donley, Juanita (Winford) Ramsey, Margaret (Thurman) Cox, and Helen Cardenas; and son-in-law Mike Duvall. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alberta Carver Powers; children Kim Duvall of Sacramento and Bobbie West of Livermore; grandchildren Michael (Robin) Duvall, Benjie (Kimberly) Duvall, Summer (Greg) Corum, and Kennah (John) Carpenter; great-grandchildren Brittany (Jay) Stallings, Bryce and Brock Duvall, Ava, Anson, and Asher Duvall, Clay and Clint Vincent, Christopher (Natalie) Case, Cathlene (Dillon) Browning, and Noah, Jonah, Henry, Isaiah, and Sarah Carpenter; and great-great-grandchildren Rorik Browning, Gunner Case, and Caraline Browning. Funeral services will be Friday, December 7, 2018, at 1:00PM at Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento, with Bro. Kelly Turner officiating. Burial in Gish Cemetery.
