POWDERLY – Katherine Brooks, 65, of Powderly died Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. She was born September 28, 1947 in Muhlenberg County and was a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her father, Sonny Ewing and a brother, Cliford Ewing. Survivors include her husband, Gerald Brooks of Powderly, three sons, Gerald Ray Brooks,Jr., John Carl Brooks and Ricky Dale Brooks all of Greenville, a daughter, Mary Katherine Brooks of Greenville, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren, five brothers, Danny Ewing of Chicago, IL, Tommy Ewing of Powderly, David Ewing of Central City, Jimmy Ewing of Graham and Roger Ewing of Powderly, six sisters, Charlotte Dukes of Powderly, Virginia Ann Dukes of Greenville, Shirley Riley of Powderly, Mary Lou Burden of Central City, Bonnie Ewing of Hopkinsville and Tamela Loney of Greenville, her mother, Mary McElvain of Greenville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City conducted by Rev. Wayne Rice and Rev, Ronnie Brooks with burial to follow in the New Life Cemetery in Powderly. Visitation will be after 5:00 PM Monday and after 8:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home.
