GREENVILLE – Joyce Whittinghill, of Greenville, died Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 3:35PM at Muhlenberg Community Hospital. Mrs. Whittinghill was a member of Church of Christ in Greenville. She was a school teacher, having taught at Greenville Elementary School for 25 years as a Title 1 Teacher, and Bremen Elementary School for 1 year teaching 2nd grade. She also taught at Graham Elementary School and Longest Elementary School for 5 years as a Title 1 teacher. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star, serving as worthy matron; Muhlenberg Co. Retired Teachers Association, and Madisonville Community College Board of Directors. She was also a member of Professional Teacher’s Sorority Alpha Iota. She was a graduate of Greenville High School. She was also a graduate of Western Kentucky Univerisity, where she received her Bachelor’s degree, Master of Arts in Elementary Education, and Rank 1 certification in Elementary Education and certification in supervision. She was preceded in death by her father, Russell Hughes; her mother, Mildred Carneal Hughes; a brother, Russell Lowell Hughes; and grandsons, Nathan Alan Eisert and Jackson Pierce Vincent. Survivors include her husband, William Joseph “Bill” Whittinghill Jr.; her son, William Joseph “Joe” Whittinghill III of Calhoun, GA; daughters Janet Lynne (Robert) Vincent of Greenville and Pamela Sue (Glenn) Eisert of Bowling Green; grandchildren Joanna Whittinghill (Dustin) Kelley, Shanna Eisert Steiden, Lauren Lile, Jordan Vincent, Jake Lile, Morgan Whittinghill, and Brad Whittinghill; great-grandchildren Kayleigh Kelley and Kolter Kelley; and a brother, J. Marshall Hughes of Nashville, TN. Funeral services will be Sunday, December 19, 2010 at 2:00PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Rev. Curtis McGehee officiating assisted by Byron Groves.
