Joan Elaine Tyson Koontz, 81, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at her residence in El Mirage, AZ.

She was born on June 6, 1942, to the late Elvis Tyson and Edna Winstead.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Brenda McCarty of Louisville, KY and Shirley Bozell of Greenville, KY and her brother, Bill Winstead of Madisonville, KY.

Survivors include her children, Andy Edwards of Central City, KY, Vicki (Bob) Begley of Arizona and Richard (Susan) LaMastus of Slaughters, KY; brothers, Elvis (Naomi) Tyson, Jr. and Greg Tyson both of Madisonville; several grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

A private service was held in Phoenix, AZ.

Joan taught me to appreciate peanut butter on pancakes and oyster stuffing. I am missing you very much my dear, dear friend. Looking forward to reuniting one day with our heavenly Father ❤️

I am so sorry to have lost such a loving, caring and kind friend. It was my honor to call her friend and sister for almost 30 years. I will miss her smile, sense of humor and southern tales. My condolences to her children, grandchildren, family and friends.
