Jimmy Lee Wilcox Published: Saturday, September 19, 2009 12:09 AM CDT SOUTH CARROLLTON — Jimmy Lee Wilcox of P.O. Box 155, South Carrollton, went to meet the Lord at 6:47 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, from his home, surrounded by family and friends. He was born April 17, 1933, in Hopkins County. He was a faithful member of Central City First Baptist Church. He served the Lord as a minister of music and deacon for 55 years at South Carrollton Missionary Baptist Church. He was also a Gideon. Mr. Wilcox was an educator for 38 years. He began organizing in 1954 the first band at Muhlenberg Central High School. He was at Central City High School for 33 years as teacher and principal. He finished his career at Muhlenberg North High School as the first athletic director and assistant principal. Survivors include his beloved wife, Ruby Wilcox; children Eddie Wilcox and Patty Williams; grandchildren Katie Williams, Lee and Deidre Williams; a brother, Guy Thomas Wilcox; sisters Carolyn Morse, Betty Durham, Lila Downs and Helen Fryer; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with the Rev. Bob Lowery officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in South Carrollton.
