He was born July 7, 1937, in Coalburg, W.Va. He was a retired miner and member of Church of God of Prophecy. Survivors include a his wife, Rita Phillips of Central City; a son, Eric (Tabitha) Phillips of Central City; grandchildren Sara Phillips and Sean Phillips; a brother, Jerry Phillips of Powderly; and a sister, Pat Hinkle of Chicago. Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Tim Camplin officiating, assisted by Carolyn Irwin. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
